Department Summary
The University of Mississippi is seeking an experienced Training Specialist Lead to join its team to support Encompass, UM's initiative to modernize the campus enterprise system that houses student information, human resource/payroll, and financial data. Join a dedicated team of more than 200 employees who are working on Encompass. Banner (student information) and Workday (human resources/payroll and financial data) will replace the university's current on-premise ERP system, SAP, which has been in use at the university since 1999. Encompass is a foundational transformation that is instrumental to operational efficiency and effectiveness and will allow the university to better serve faculty, staff, students, and researchers.
Role Summary
Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of learning strategies and programs based on the needs of employees and the University. Encompass is seeking a Training Specialist Lead to focus on the student information system (Banner) implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a training plan for the Banner Student Information System implementation, including needs assessment to identify specific training needs for different user groups (faculty, staff, students) by role, curriculum development, and content creation.
2. Create templates for training materials in collaboration with the Workday Training Lead.
3. Develop and/or oversee development of engaging training materials including but not limited to job aides, computer-based training, instructor-based training, etc. for adult learners.
4. Collaborate with project/training team members (Functional Leads, User Testing, etc.) on development and validation of training materials, methods, and modalities based on a right sized training approach.
5. Solve challenges and remove barriers to executing the Banner Training Plan.
6. Provide subject matter expertise for the purpose of designing and developing training materials.
7. Assign necessary training tasks to other designers, developers, SMEs, training deliverers, training support/logistics as needed/available.
8. Coordinate with Training Coordinator to facilitate and schedule necessary training sessions (instructor-based training, computer-based training, etc.).
9. Demonstrate understanding of change management principles and adult learning practices.
10. Ensure training materials and delivery methods meet accessibility standards and address the diverse needs of all user groups.
11. Develop a strategy for knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability of training efforts, including train-the-trainer programs and ongoing support.
Essential Functions

1. Coordinates the securing of resources for employee professional development events, courses, activities and educational programs.
2. Coordinates the development and execution of marketing strategies for professional development activities.
3. Serves as a unit liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing organizational information and representing the interests of the unit, including moderately complex troubleshooting and problem-solving.
