As a Looked After Children Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in advocating for the well-being and development of children placed in care. Your responsibilities will include:
6. Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of each child's needs, background, and circumstances. Collaborate with other professionals to create comprehensive care plans that address their physical, emotional, and educational needs.
7. Direct Support: Provide direct support and guidance to looked after children, acting as their advocate and ensuring their voices are heard. Offer counseling, crisis intervention, and emotional support to help them cope with their situations.
8. Placement Monitoring: Regularly visit children in their placements to assess their safety, well-being, and progress. Work closely with foster carers, residential staff, and other professionals to ensure a supportive environment.
9. Report Writing: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions. Prepare high-quality reports for case reviews, court proceedings, and other relevant purposes.
10. Collaboration: Collaborate with external agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and legal professionals to coordinate holistic support for looked after children. Attend multidisciplinary meetings to contribute to planning and decision-making processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
11. Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
12. Social Work England registration or relevant professional body registration.
13. Proven experience in working with looked after children and a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
15. Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
16. Strong assessment, report writing, and organizational skills.
17. Commitment to continuous professional development.
