Job Description
The Senior Engineer (Electrical) will have three main areas of responsibility; managing their engineering staff, assist in the development and the checking or certification of the technical outputs (including producing a safe design), supporting the programme to deliver to cost (hours) and time.
A Senior Engineer (Electrical) will be accountable to a Principal Engineer (Electrical), you will be allocated to a programme / project where you will be responsible to the lead Electrical.
Key Tasks and Activities
1. Support the Principal Engineer to maintain engineering standards of the Electrical resource allocated to your programme, assist to correctly scope engineering deliverables to meet programme schedule.
2. Support the Principal Engineer in the application of engineering processes and quality assurance procedures within allocated programme project.
3. Instil a delivery ethos with the Programme Project Engineering team.
4. Support the resolution of Electrical issues on your programme by discussing technical issues with other technical teams. If a resolution cannot be determined highlight the issue to the Principal Engineer.
5. Communication with the Principal Engineer on a daily basis and assist in the preparation for programme / project design reviews.
6. Support the Principal Engineer in identifying Programme Assumptions, Risks and Issues.
7. Support the Principal Engineer in discussions and present technical solutions to customers.
8. Ensure all quality, safety and environmental company standards and procedures are applied.
9. Promote continuous professional development opportunities.
10. Maintain own continuous professional development currency.
11. Maintain accurate Configuration Management of all Design Documentation.
12. Identify IP and ensure appropriate steps are taken to safeguard company intellectual assets.
13. Operate within security and confidentiality requirements assigned by client organisations.
14. Develop and mentor individuals for their progression.
15. Assist Bid Managers with engineering input to Bid responses.
16. Support LFE sessions from each Programme and improvements in the Engineering Policies and Process.
Qualifications
17. Formal qualification in Engineering; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent.
18. Experience of working in the marine industry (Oil & Gas, Renewables, Commercial, Cruise & Ferry, Defence), and has relevant design code knowledge.
19. Knowledge of procurement and design processes (supporting the discussion of requirements with suppliers, preparing documentation for bids, reviewing and approving technical deliverables)
20. Assisting with the development of Engineering Design processes.
21. Must be good in the use of MS Office (Outlook / Word / Excel) and Engineering Design Software.
22. Must hold current Driving Licence.
23. Requirement for short notice/working outside of normal shift pattern as dictated by the task.
24. Ideally in possession of, or confirmed willing to be trained in;
25. Use of MEWP training

27. Confined Space training
