We have an opportunity for a Compliance Coordinator to join our Northern Cluster Technical Team based at Kara as part of Finsbury Food Group. Established in 1985, Kara offers a wide range of quality sweet and savoury bakery products, including both gourmet butter and vegan brioche buns, doughballs and teacakes. The Kara Bakery can bake over 1 million baps and burger buns every day.
The Compliance Coordinator will assist in providing technical support to the Technical Department by managing internal audits as well as ensuring that the reports and data sets meet the needs of the site strategy, all statutory obligations, customer requirements, and our company policies with respect to food safety and due diligence. The role will also include developing and maintaining effective data management systems to always ensure technical and operational integrity. The Compliance Coordinator will provide comprehensive and accurate information for internal and external customers in a timely manner and will assist the Technical Manager and team with compliance to Customer, BRC and legislative requirements. Therefore, great communication, organization skills, and attention to detail are required.
This is what you’ll actually do!
As the Compliance Coordinator you will:
1. Manage the site internal audit program (schedule, issue, review and close of internal audits) on SHE.
2. Ensure all required internal and external documentation is completed on time and maintain traceability throughout the project.
3. Maintain and develop artwork and packaging and ensure they are aligned with agreed pack copy, legal/company requirements, and ingredient specifications with any non-compliance reported and followed up.
4. Have an awareness of the site HACCP system, highlighting any issues in complying with the agreed specification standards of the customer.
5. Complete, review and close off site customer complaints on QADEX and customer portals, based on relevant root cause analysis and corrective actions.
6. Manage the supplier non-conformances for Kara and Fletchers sites and assist Technical Manager with KPI reports completion for site and customers.
7. Ensure raw materials comply with the customer list(s) criteria, manage the rejection of out of specification raw material suppliers, and conduct mass balance exercise to High-risk ingredients as defined by COPs.

1. Confident and assertive personality with a proactive solution-focused approach to HSE and Sustainability.
2. Graduate level with qualifications in Food Science, Technology/Nutrition, or relevant experience.
3. Aware of legislation changes.
4. Previous experience with food processing/manufacture.
5. Awareness of nutrition, food intolerance/allergens, microbiology, nutritional and chemical analysis.
6. Good communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively with all relevant departments.
7. Good organization skills – must be able to multitask.
8. Knowledge of up-to-date legislation regarding labelling.
9. A personal commitment to the company values.
10. Ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines.
Skills & Qualifications
1. Experience of the food industry, in particular Bakery manufacture is advantageous.
2. Great attention to detail, experience with BRCGS and other customer standards.
3. You will also possess excellent team working, communication and negotiating skills; you will be well organized with good planning and time management skills.
4. Level 2 Food Hygiene.
5. Level 2 HACCP.
6. Competent in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
7. Trained Internal auditor.
