Founded in central London in 1955 as an English Language training centre, St Giles International is now one of the largest international English language training organisations founded in the UK. We have 5 year-round centres for students with an average age of 20-30 years in the UK (London Central, London Highgate, Brighton, Eastbourne and Cambridge).

St Giles Eastbourne is part of the St Giles International organization with an outstanding reputation in the field of English Language Teaching. Our Eastbourne centre offers a full range of short and extended Language Courses including Cambridge Examinations and IELTS.
Applicants
The successful candidate needs to combine academic and business management with dexterity in this highly competitive industry. Applicants should have a formal management qualification and a well-recognised certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The ideal candidate will also have 5+ years’ management experience in a language school environment.
General Duties
1. Administrative
o Overall management of office and academic administration
o Supervision of all Student Services work, procedures, notifications, and documentation
o Supervision of accommodation provisions
o Monitoring capacity and notifying Overseas Partners of availability of courses and accommodation
o Monitoring academic management and the delivery of the teaching programme
o Handling any Overseas Partner or student complaints effectively
o Overseeing good welfare provisions for the students
o Overseeing the social programme
o Providing a good café service for students
o Dealing with out-of-hours emergencies
o Ensuring effective internal communication within the school
2. Financial
o Profit optimisation
o Managing cash flow
o Budgets and monitoring of expenditure
o Working with the Finance Manager in the production of management and final accounts
o Overseeing credit control procedures
o Cost control
o Overseeing the payroll and professional standards of payment
o Managing student teacher ratios
3. Premises
o Overseeing maintenance and ensuring that the building looks smart and impressive
o Overseeing security of the premises
o Running/monitoring larger projects for the improvement of the building
o Implementing and monitoring various contracts
o Ensuring that the site complies with statutory health and safety requirements
4. Resources
o Liaison with suppliers
o Sourcing, maintaining and developing the school’s academic and administrative resources
o Maintaining and improving the school’s I.T. provision
5. Staffing
o Recruitment of administrative staff and, with the DOS, teaching staff
o Monitoring performance
o Contractual matters and disciplinary procedures
6. External representation
o Liaison with outside bodies
o Representing the school at outside meetings
7. Promotion
o The Principal is expected to meet visitors and Overseas Partners
o Close liaison with the Sales & Marketing Departments
o Management of groups to ensure a good experience
8. Strategy
o Producing and implementing new ideas for improvements to the school
o Developing and monitoring new courses and facilities
o Reporting to Line Manager (CEO)
9. Care of Under 18s / Safeguarding
o Notifying the CEO and the relevant authorities of any matters of concern
o Taking overall responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection

Terms
* Starting from £48,000 p.a. (dependant on experience)
* Holidays include 24 working days
* Probationary period of employment is 6 months
* Sick pay includes 4 weeks full pay + 4 weeks ½ pay
* Working hours include 08:30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday
* Extra days’ holiday given in lieu of any days worked at the weekend
