Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
Aventa is currently looking on behalf of one of our clients for a Senior Project Engineer. Reporting to the Project Director (PD) based in Milan HQ, the resource will:
1. Continuously interface with the Client, actively participate in project management weekly and monthly meetings.
2. Prepare monthly progress reports, minutes of meetings, and lookahead programmes.
3. Prepare project documentation as required (e.g., Communication Plan, Stakeholder Plan, Interface Plan, License/Permits Plan, Risk Register, etc.).
4. Act as the main interface with the Permitting Manager, participate in meetings with Land Owners, Authorities, Asset Owners, and follow up on any actions needed to obtain permits on time, in cooperation with the Employer.
5. Ensure a Permits obtainment schedule is in place and properly monitored.
6. Update the Project Actions Tracker Register and follow up on any actions dealing with the relevant functions.
7. Be familiar with the Master Document Register and follow up on the documentation review cycle with the Customer and Marine Warranty Surveyor, guaranteeing timely documentation readiness.
8. Participate in the bidders' section and preparation of the documentation package required for the bid/sign phase.
9. Manage project subcontractors involved in activities such as cable landfall assistance, HDD construction, civil works, and marine survey.
10. Ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulations, championing a safety-first culture.
11. Collect lessons learned.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Master’s degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years working experience as Project Engineer for a major Oil & Gas EPC Contractor or Civil Contractor, preferably involved in projects comprising engineering, procurement, and installation of HV cables both onshore and offshore (marine survey, cable laying, protection, landfall, cable pulling, etc.).
3. Familiarity with procurement processes and technical bid evaluation of bidders’ proposals.
4. Preparation of engineering and project management documentation.
5. Follow up on the documentation review cycle with the Employer and Marine Warranty Surveyor.
6. Experience with permits and consent management processes (permits to access the site, crossing agreements, liaison with landowners, etc.).
7. Experience in managing interfaces between different contractors working within the same worksite (e.g., Converter Station and/or landfall).
8. Supplier and subcontractor management experience.
9. Preferably 2-3 years of experience on site supervising construction civil works such as trenching, backfilling, HDD execution, sheet pile installation, land cable pulling, landfall pulling, etc.
10. Experience working on projects with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) or Scottish & Southern Electricity Network (SSEN).
11. Knowledge of The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (UK law) and National Grid Electricity Transmission Design Management Requirement (i.e., Supplier Requirements SR-188 “Design Management”).
12. Proficiency in BS 5975 Temporary Works Procedure.
13. Proficiency in English.

18. Good experience in project management, planning, and reporting.
19. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project, and AutoCAD.
Conditions
Contract: Freelancer, daily rate based on the experience of the candidate. Flexibility to travel and work in diverse geographical locations in Europe, as required by the project (Client Office in UK, Construction Site, cable factory, subcontractor offices).
