Procurement Project Officer / Full time / Permanent / £42,500
My client, a local authority, is looking for a Procurement Project Officer to join them on a full-time permanent basis. To be considered for this role, you should be experienced in delivering procurement projects from initiation all the way through to completion. You will be looking to maximise the efficiency and savings across the department whilst ensuring quality remains.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Advise stakeholders to ensure procurement meets goals, maximises value, and supports community impact
2. Implement the Commercial Services Plan, Category Management, and Make-or-Buy strategy
3. Guide clients on high-value procurements, regulatory compliance, and e-tendering
4. Lead procurement projects from tendering through contract and category management
5. Focus on cost savings while upholding quality standards
6. Conduct spend analysis, collaborate on Category Plans, and apply data insights
7. Share industry best practices and updates with council leaders
8. Enable self-service for small procurements and provide e-tendering training
9. Streamline procurement processes, update resources, and improve communication
10. Ensure vendor adherence to data protection and governance standards
Essential Skills:
1. MCIPS qualification is preferred
2. Previous experience delivering procurement projects within a public sector organisation
3. Strong data analysis skills
4. Good understanding of tendering systems/e-tendering systems
5. Confident and strong communicator
6. Previous experience working in commercial departments/roles is preferred
Package:
1. Base salary of £42,800
