Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery, located in North Lincolnshire, is a key asset for the Prax Group and is a world-class supplier of quality fuels. Constructed in 1968, it has the capacity to process up to 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil per year (up to 113,000 barrels a day) and currently employs around 450 staff in addition to a similar complement of contract personnel. The refinery extends over 500 acres and incorporates some of the most advanced refining and conversion processes in Europe, supplying products by road, rail, sea and pipeline.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Assurance Manager to join the PLOR Performance Team, reporting directly to the Refinery General Manager. This role is accountable for all engineering maintenance and project activities, including the delivery of both the annual maintenance plan and CAPEX projects. In addition, the role is responsible for driving improvements in safety and reliability and defining the refinery standards.
Key Accountabilities include:
* HSEQI Compliance: Lead a positive HSEQI culture, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and support incident investigations.
* Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term engineering strategies, ensuring alignment with UK safety and environmental standards.
* Team Leadership: Lead and develop the site engineering team, including succession planning, recruitment, and competency assessments. Coach and support the site engineering team in their ongoing professional development.
* Asset Integrity: Oversee and guide the department's provision of technical integrity and reliability of refinery assets, including mechanical, E&I, Civil, logistics, and infrastructure assets. Provide guidance to the Business Team Engineers on the development of appropriate asset life plans.
* Technical Support: Oversee and guide the department's provision of technical guidance to the Business Teams, including troubleshooting and sharing best practices, and act as an interface to externally provided technical support.
* Maintenance Provision: Oversee and guide the provision of the site maintenance delivery team, including maintenance performance KPI. Support the development of a best-in-class delivery performance. Accountable for the delivery and cost performance of maintenance support activities to the site.
* Budget Management: Control departmental budget and manage the Capex budget, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Commercial Management: Develop and manage a commercial and cost control team to ensure that the delivery of procured services meets the needs of the refinery and are delivered at the lowest cost consistent with required quality of service.
* Project Management: Oversee and guide the project department in the delivery of Capex projects on behalf of the Business Teams from concept through to implementation.
* Documentation & Procedures: Ensure all technical records, maintenance plans, and procedures are up to date and compliant with industry standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Bring a continuous improvement methodology to the department.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
* UK Chartered Engineer or ‘Eur Ing’ registration.
* Leadership Skills: Strong management, supervisory, and leadership capabilities.
* Technical Expertise: Preferred high level of technical knowledge, particularly in refinery processes and equipment.
* Industry Experience: Minimum 10 years in a refining or petrochemical environment.
* Project Management: Experience in project management and construction.
* Financial Acumen: Proven experience in budgeting, financial control, and cost monitoring.
* Commercial Management: Proven experience of developing and administering engineering contracts within a top tier COMAH environment.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Teamwork: Effective team worker, negotiator, and motivator with experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
