About the role
You will play a key role in supporting children and families. You will manage qualified and unqualified workers, with a focus on maintaining the highest professional standards through regular formal and informal supervision of staff. You will act as mentor for colleagues and take a lead in the induction of new staff. You will be expected to lead and develop areas of work within the team.
You will stay up to date with relevant legislation, law and best practice and we continue to develop continued professional development via excellent training opportunities.
You are an experienced front-line children's social worker who is committed to working alongside the team manager to provide support for the Social Workers and Child Social Care Assessors in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
You are free-thinking and confident in decision making which will be demonstrated in your excellent management oversight on referrals received by the team.
You will be supportive and passionate to assist the manager to develop a high performing team, and to support in the development of staff to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
You will have advanced communication skills, you will be experienced in chairing meetings and previous experience of managing complex cases.
The Single Point of Access Team acts as the first point of contact, receiving requests for information, advice and assistance to support children and families and also to investigate safeguarding concerns.
The Single Point of Access Team brings key professionals together to facilitate early information sharing to support families and safeguard children. This is achieved by collating information from different agencies to inform interventions to achieve the best outcomes for children. An Assistant Team Manager in SPOA will predominantly be managing our inbox, making decisions on referrals in terms of the local authorities initial response, they will be supporting and supervising social workers, reviewing cases and making decisions whether allocation is needed and attending meetings including Strategy Discussions and Strategy Meetings. Knowledge of the law in Wales including Section 5 is essential.
