Accountable for delivering MEP services on projects to meet outcomes related to time, budget, safety, and quality. Responsible for high-quality, efficient, and profitable delivery, and for compliance, governance, assurance, and managing teams of technical and construction staff. Builds and maintains relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Leading the MEP team through professional and respectful behaviors, providing clear guidance and ensuring adherence to Mace standards.
* Ensuring successful delivery of MEP services, including program management, health and safety, quality, and commissioning.
* Partnering with key project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, trade contractors, and team leaders.
* Supporting tendering processes and providing technical and commercial expertise to bid teams and leadership.
* Managing internal and external resources effectively.
* Contributing to procurement strategies and ensuring specialist packages are procured within scope and budget.
* Reviewing contracts and scope, assisting in budget preparation, value engineering, scheduling, and trade contracts, supporting commercial teams throughout the project.
* Leading design reviews for compliance, coordination, and completeness, including considerations for embodied carbon and operational energy, aligned with RIBA and BSRIA design frameworks.
* Developing and implementing project delivery strategies and programs, considering milestones, interfaces, dependencies, logistics, and sequencing. Developing commissioning strategies per Mace standards.
* Using digital technologies to assess productivity, identify trends, and manage risks.
* Driving project closeout to high standards, including commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and client training.
* Proactively identifying risks and developing mitigation plans.
* Reviewing issues for continuous improvement and sharing lessons learned.
* Managing and negotiating with senior stakeholders, including up to C-suite level.
* Managing large teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and providing performance management, technical, and career development.
* Working towards net-zero carbon goals, managing associated emissions and reductions during project delivery.
You’ll need to have:
* Advanced knowledge of engineering systems, standards, installation techniques, and commissioning requirements.
* Strong understanding of construction sequencing, dependencies, and build elements.
* Advanced planning and management skills, including scheduling, critical path, and commissioning activities.
* Strong commercial management skills, including procurement, change control, risk mitigation, and forecasting.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare practices, including working at heights, electrical safety, fire safety, logistics, and lifting.
* Experience in delivering projects valued over £25m in MEP.
* Proven track record of successful project contributions.
* Proficiency in building services or relevant engineering disciplines.
* Strong presentation, communication, analytical, and collaborative skills.
* Leadership qualities, including decision-making, motivation, and resource management.
* Formal engineering training (HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent) and certifications such as SMSTS and CSCS card.

* Experience across diverse technical backgrounds or sectors.
* Relevant bachelor’s degree or vocational equivalent.
* Accreditation with professional bodies like CIBSE, IET, IMechE, or SoPHE.
