We are seeking a manufacturing technician in the area of metrology / inspection / Quality who can support projects being delivered as part of AMIC's advanced manufacturing activities. The successful candidate will assist with workshop-based research and development activities and apply knowledge and experience to ensure outputs which will have a direct economic and technical benefit to AMIC and our partner companies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Metrology team, wider AMIC team and industry partners to help deliver key projects focused on advanced manufacturing. About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: OND/ONC and/or NVQ level 3 or above (or equivalent standard) in a relevant engineering discipline and/or arecognised, apprenticeship completed in an engineering environment OR lower qualifications with significant and relevant industrial experience. Two years (post apprenticeship) experience in a high precision manufacturing environment which shouldinclude: Experience in the use of inspection equipment and software. Creation of inspection plans, measurement routines and fixturing techniques. Demonstrable knowledge of quality procedures, processes and techniques in relation to modern quality andinspection best practice. Demonstrable analytical skills with a proven track record in solving engineering related problems. Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel). Good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work well in a team and on own initiative. Ability to prioritise own work to meet deadlines. Ability to think logically and formulate plans to solve problems. Willing to gain experience and learn new skills and techniques. Ability to forming good working relationships with students, staff and external collaborators. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
