Job overview
The NUH Regional Specialist Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service provides inpatient and outpatient care to patients across the East Midlands in a welcoming, caring, holistic and understanding environment. The multi-disciplinary team support and encourage patients to manage their treatment to achieve their optimum quality of life.
Clinical Psychologists with an interest in clinical health psychology are invited to apply for this B8a role in our well-established Clinical Psychology Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service. The postholder will work alongside an experienced Band 8b Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist in the Adult Medical Clinical Psychology team.
You may have experience of working with physical health problems with either children/families or adults, or experience of working in child and adolescent or adult mental health services with a keen interest to apply that knowledge to work in an acute trust.
The post holder will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and will usually be based at the East Midlands Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre at City Hospital. This one of the newest purpose-built centres with ground-breaking IT facilities. The aim of the Centre is to transform the care of patients by creating a 'home in hospital', where they not only receive all the treatment needed in one place, but also feel comfortable and ‘at-home’ during the long periods spent in hospital.
Main duties of the job
In this role, the post holder will be able to use a full range of clinical psychology skills to make a significant difference to the lives of adults living with cystic fibrosis. The post holder will provide inpatient and outpatient psychological assessments and interventions to adults with Cystic Fibrosis, and psychological advice, supervision, consultancy and training to multi-disciplinary colleagues.

We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision as required to others within and outside of the multidisciplinary team. The department has a commitment to clinical research. Strong support is available to participate in research or to develop your clinical research interests.

Training & Qualifications
* Completed post-graduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
* Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
Experience
* Experience of working with children and adults with physical health problems, or with children or adults with mental health problems
* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for client's psychological care and treatment
* Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
* Experience of carrying out research
* Working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in paediatric psychology or adult clinical health psychology

* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group
Analytical and judgement skills
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods
* Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for people with long-term health conditions
* Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
* Experience using qualitative research methods
Planning and organisation skills
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC
* Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations
* Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice

Physical skills
* Ability to move between a number of locations within the Region in a working day

* Up to date immunisations are required, including TB and HepB

The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
