This is a very exciting role that requires the post holder to be very flexible in their approach, and to be able to work autonomously and liaise regularly between patients, consultants and the wider MDT teams. It is a high-profile role within the haemato-oncology team and we are looking for an individual with experience working in haemato-oncology who has excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Main duties of the job
1.1.To support and drive the implementation of initiatives to improve patient experience related to medicines in haemato-oncology
1.2.To continually appraise the service provided to identify new ways to optimise medication pathways.
1.3. To be responsible for leading on the operational delivery of the medicines optimisation services across the Haemato-Oncology directorate through liaison with the Lead Haemato-Oncology pharmacist and relevant Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
1.4.To support the delivery of education and training on medicines optimisation to staff across the Haemato-Oncology directorate and.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1.1Directly manage pharmacy technicians working in the Haemato-Oncology unit and co-ordinate the daily running of the medicine management services
1.2Directly manage the self-administration pathways for patients in the Haemato-Oncology unit.
1.3To co-ordinate the repeat prescription service for patients in the Haemato-Oncology unit.
1.4To manage the Intrathecal register for pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacy Intrathecal lead.
1.5To liaise with the Chief technician (Sutton) to ensure a prompt, safe and efficient medicines management and supply service is provided to designated wards within the Trust.
1.6To support and participate in the delivery of training for all staff working within Haemato-Oncology areas ensuring they conduct duties within legislations and local procedures/policies.
1.7Work closely with the Haemato-Oncology pharmacy team to ensure delivery of effective medicines management services across all areas of Haemato-Oncology.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
2. Regional Accredited checking technician
3. Certificate in Medicine Management
4. Practice supervisor certificate
Desirable criteria
5. Clinical Pharmacy Certificate or equivalent higher education
6. Educational supervisor certificate
7. NHS Leadership qualification / other leadership qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
8. Significant’ experience post qualification in hospital pharmacy providing medicines management services
9. Significant experience in the delivery of MM services in Haemato-Oncology / Oncology
10. Provision of Medicines Management training / supervision
11. Staff management experience as a senior technician
12. Experience of liasing with patients about complex medication pathways
13. Experience of translating complex medication pathways to a variety of healthcare professionals
Desirable criteria
14. Working knowledge/experience of writing SOPs
15. Experience of working with Haemato-Oncology patients
16. Experience of quality improvement / Project
17. Experience of audit

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
