As Service Express has been growing, so have our teams to support our global expansion! The Data Centre Facilities Engineer is a brand-new role working closely with the wider facilities team to ensure the smooth operation of our digital infrastructure within two data centres and office facilities.
To be successful in this role, you will be a dedicated team player who is able to proactively undertake planned preventative maintenance in critical IT environments throughout the company’s estate, as well as demonstrate flexibility and problem solving for reactive tasks when needed.
Here’s what this position is all about:
1. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on HVAC/CRAC units, electrical systems, CCTV, access control, fire detection, BMS, and more.
2. Maintain accurate documentation for installations, migrations, and maintenance.
3. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and contractors to ensure efficient operations.
4. Assist in the installation and migration of active equipment.
5. Monitor and manage environmental conditions through BMS.
6. Install Bus Bar tap-off boxes, equipment cabinets, and maintain data centre PDU infrastructure.
7. Conduct mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building repairs.
8. Perform routine inspections and ensure cleanliness in plant rooms and restricted areas.
9. Support operational needs, including CCTV, access control, and hardware/software installations.
10. Regularly update AutoCAD drawings for project planning and layout designs.
What we are hoping you can bring to the Service Express team:
1. Successful experience of working in building services or commercial experience within the electrical trade.
2. Relevant apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent experience.
3. IEE wiring regulations 18th edition.
4. Flexible approach and able to work unsociable hours. On call rota is currently 1 in 4 weeks.
5. Ability to reach Ampthill Data Center within 20 minutes of call out.
6. Due to regularly traveling across 3 Bedford sites and occasional travel to other UK sites then post holder will have use of a company van. A current driving license is required.
7. Knowledge of CAD, access control/CCTV systems and basic networking with ability to carry out basic fault finding are desirable.
8. H&S qualification or willingness to work towards.

Our role is based 100% on site, working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday worked flexibly anytime between 8am and 5.30pm.
