The HEF team has a caseload of adults and children and although this post is to work with the paediatric caseload, we welcome applicants with experience of adults, children, or both. You would work closely with the dietitians in the HEF team, MDTs at Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital, and the paediatric community teams. The service provides face-to-face home visits, telephone, video consultations, and school clinics depending on patient need. There is close liaison with families and a wide range of carers including nursery and education providers. As well as a sound knowledge of enteral nutrition, some experience in primary care and paediatrics is desirable, but not essential. We will invest in you and provide training when in post. Our Enteral Feed provider is Abbott Nutrition and you will work closely with the Abbott Nutrition Nurse Advisers.
Main duties of the job
Within this role you will provide a service to patients and their carers and complete dietetic assessment and interventions to children referred into the service. You will work with the MDTs in the acute trusts (Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital), CAMHS in Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, with primary care staff, nurseries, schools and tertiary centres out of county.
You will be based at our office on the Kettering General Hospital or Northampton General Hospital site but the expectation is to work countywide, including providing some home visits and school clinics.
You will be working as an autonomous practitioner but be a team player, will have excellent dietetic assessment skills and be able to create dietetic interventions that are linked into the wider MDT care plans. The post holder will establish children referred on an appropriate enteral feeding regimen, develop individualised care plans and monitor their nutrition to maintain safe practice and allow growth. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use different approaches flexibly to meet the needs of our patients and promote engagement.
We strive to support and develop our staff and are committed to working together to improve the future of our service, not only for patients and carers, but also for our staff. We value your development and likewise ask you to be involved in supporting staff, student training and pathway development.
