The role
As we continue to grow, and specifically so in Manchester and Newcastle, we are looking for an ambitious Associate/Partner level building surveyor to join our growing Newcastle team and develop a Project and Building Consultancy offering in the Newcastle office, serving Northumbria, Yorkshire and Cumbria.
The role will be based in Newcastle but can accommodate a Leeds based surveyor with strong connections to the Newcastle market, who is prepared to spend a few days a week in the Newcastle office.
There will be a strong emphasis on core traditional building surveying duties across multiple sectors, including a full range of professional work on a variety of client accounts across both commercial and residential property. We are seeking someone who is adept at working across a number of small and large projects at any one time.
The role provides a real opportunity for an ambitious surveyor to ‘make their mark’ and shape the future of the team at an early stage, with unrestricted opportunity for the right team member.
Responsibilities
People
* Actively contribute to the effectiveness of the team, shares knowledge and advises others
* Develop the team going forward including hiring new staff to support development
Clients and business development
* Identify and progress new business opportunities both in and outside own discipline
* Become a key part of the existing Newcastle to open new service lines
* Work with the existing Manchester, London and Oxford team to develop existing client relationships to offer services across Northumbria, Yorkshire and Cumbria
* Develop existing client relationships and to securing new business and generating revenue
* Work on a broad range of assignments
* Manage assignments or sections of major projects
* Broad knowledge of principles and practices of related disciplines
* Enhances Cluttons reputation through successful delivery
* Build networks across service lines
Financial
* Deliver as per corporate contract(s) requirements
* Accurately forecast fees when required to do so by the Partner
* Contribute to the development of initiatives to increase profitability
Systems and process
* Evaluate, adapt and improves standards, techniques and procedures
* Adheres to and manages processes in accordance with internal and accredited requirements
* May be a contributor to wider projects
Requirements
* Educated to degree level
* MRICS + experience PQE
* Driving licence and own transport
* Prior experience in a multi-disciplinary firm
* First class business development skills and key client contacts
* Demonstrable record of exceptional delivery and track record in building consultancy
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical and complex subjects clearly and concisely to clients
* Good presentation skills and experience of being directly client facing
* Ability to work as part of a very client focused team
* Excellent technical competence across the full range of building consultancy service lines
