Criminal Justice Recovery Worker

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Criminal Justice team and support those with alcohol or drug problems currently in the Criminal Justice system.

What you will be doing:
Working within an integrated healthcare framework to provide support to drug and alcohol users aged 18 and over. Services are designed to deliver psychosocial drug and alcohol interventions for service users identified as having an alcohol or drug problem.
Services will deliver client-centered treatment using both harm reduction and abstinence-based treatment approaches, depending on the individual client's requirements. You will manage clients referred through Criminal Justice (CJ) referral routes from courts, police custody, and prisons; services provided will be integrated within the substance misuse service to offer appropriate harm reduction advice and guidance, assess, care plan, and deliver structured 1:1 and group-work sessions, including structured treatment programmes.
Through care and integration with other services such as housing, employment, healthcare services, probation, and CRCs are essential elements of the work; communication with all CJ partner agencies is vital to demonstrate outcomes and attendance. You will contribute to the targets set by Forward and the local commissioners, including measuring outcomes, necessitating cooperative working relationships with other partner agencies.
Flexibility is required in this role, which may include some evening work and travel to prisons and probation in Medway to ensure continuity of care for those approaching release or recently released.
What are we looking for?
1. Experience of working within substance misuse services and with CJ clients.
2. Experience of carrying out comprehensive assessments, risk management plans, and designing and implementing SMART care plans.
3. Experience of working with CJ agencies such as the police, probation, CRC, and prisons.
4. Experience of delivering structured interventions to service users.
5. Experience of facilitating groups.
6. Using motivational interviewing techniques in both 1:1 and group settings.
7. Strong IT skills.
8. Understanding of continuity of care, holistic care needs, and community services.
9. Experience of promoting and supporting equality and diversity.
10. Knowledge of the issues facing substance misusers.
11. Knowledge of the criminal justice sector.
12. Knowledge of the recovery agenda.
13. Knowledge of safeguarding.
14. A thorough knowledge of and commitment to the 12-step process of recovery from addiction.
15. Knowledge of community support services.
