A UK leading multi-award winning building services contractor are currently seeking an MEP Coordination Engineer in supporting their expanding BIM, Pre-Construction, Design & Operations teams at their fabulous new Head Office in Banbridge, as a fundamental role in managing the MEP design coordination on multiple large scale projects throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, including decarbonisation, renewable energy, data centre, healthcare, commercial, high rise residential, educational, and airport projects. Key Responsibilities Model Review: Examine and evaluate BIM models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Drawing Review: Diligently review MEP drawings, ensuring they are accurate, detailed, and in alignment with the BIM models and project requirements Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control procedures for MEP modelling and drawing production. Design Optimisation: Propose innovative design solutions or alternative methods/products to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of MEP systems. Risk Assessment: Identify and record risks or challenges related to MEP installations, suggesting pre-emptive measures or solutions. Product Supplier Coordination: Engage with equipment and material suppliers to ensure that their product data and specifications are accurately incorporated into the BIM models. Coordination Meetings: Attend BIM coordination meetings to discuss model progress, clashes, and resolutions. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integrated design approach. Schedule Management: Monitor and ensure that the BIM team adheres to project timelines, flagging any potential delays and coordinating with project managers to address them. Change Management: Track and manage any design changes or variations, ensuring that they are promptly reflected in the BIM models and drawings. Clash Detection: Use tools like Autodesk Navisworks to identify and resolve clashes between various MEP systems and other disciplines Compliance Checks: Ensure that all MEP designs comply with local codes and standards, product installation guidance, and the specific project requirements. Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update internal MEP coordination and BIM procedures to align with industry best practices and technological advancements. Provide feedback to the BIM team on potential improvements or modifications needed in the models or drawings. Documentation: Maintain records of all reviews, feedback, and coordination activities. Ensure all changes and modifications are properly documented. Liaison: Act as a key point of contact between the BIM team and offsite fabrication and onsite operations teams for any MEP related queries or clarifications to ensure a smooth transition from BIM design modelling to offsite manufacturing and onsite installation where regular meetings should be arranged with the relevant team personnel to discuss KPIs. Training: Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in BIM and MEP design. You will be required to provide guidance/training to junior team members to assist with their development. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure a holistic approach to the project's design and execution. Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate project status, challenges, and updates to associate director and other key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise MEP Design Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design principles, standards, and best practices. Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify challenges and devise effective solutions, especially in the dynamic environment of construction and design. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical details to diverse stakeholders, from design teams to contractors to clients Attention to Detail: Keen attention to ensure the accuracy and precision of models, drawings, and coordination efforts. Project Management: Understanding of project management principles to ensure tasks are completed on time with the allocated resources, whilst having ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at any time in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, understanding the needs and constraints of various departments and roles. Analytical Thinking: Capacity to analyse product information, design proposals, and workflow efficiencies to make informed decisions. Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and methods in the ever-evolving BIM and construction landscape. Leadership: Ability to lead teams, provide guidance, and ensure tasks are executed efficiently. Experience: Strong building services background with minimum 5 years’ experience with MEP installations on commercial scale projects Desirable Criteria: A relevant third level education in building services, construction or project management Competent understanding of mechanical systems in medium to large commercial projects Proficient in Autodesk Navisworks for Coordination review Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK and Ireland.
