Role Overview:
Mech Electrics are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's dynamic engineering team based in Lancashire. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and modifying mechanical systems to meet the specific requirements of site applications. This role requires expertise in design alterations, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt designs to meet practical, site-based challenges. The candidate should have a strong background in mechanical engineering (building services) and be comfortable working on both design and implementation stages of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Alterations for Site Application: Modify and adapt existing mechanical designs to ensure they are suitable for on-site implementation, taking into account practical constraints, environmental factors, and client-specific requirements.
Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and construction teams to ensure the smooth transition from design to on-site implementation.
Technical Support: Provide engineering support during the installation and commissioning phases, ensuring that designs are executed correctly and any necessary adjustments are made to suit site conditions.
Quality Assurance: Review design work for compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and best practices. Ensure designs are optimized for cost, efficiency, and reliability.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot design and engineering issues, offering innovative solutions when faced with challenges or design discrepancies.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and methodologies within the engineering team.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records, technical specifications, and documentation for design changes, revisions, and completed work.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Industry related qualification.
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services.
Proficiency in CAD Software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar), with the ability to create detailed 2D and 3D designs, models, and assemblies.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Experience with site-based design adaptation and alterations, with a proven track record of modifying designs to suit on-site constraints and requirements.
Understanding of engineering standards and regulatory compliance, including safety regulations and industry best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively when facing complex design or technical challenges.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and site engineers.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
