At Cellular Highways, we develop advanced, automated high-throughput cell sorting instruments for research and clinical applications.
As an Equipment Build & Qualification Technician, you will be a key member of the operations team at our UK based manufacturing site in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire. You will be responsible for the full build of our Highway1 instrument, its setup and qualification.
Instrument build and qualification is an important function, and will cover many disciplines, such as basic mechanical assembly, instrument optics, laser components and basic PCB integration. You will be involved in both electrical and electronic systems, and should be able to work and fault find on electrical gear, as well as digital and analogue control circuitry.
In this role you will also support all other production related manufacture as well as many R&D activities relating to assembly build of next generation products.
As the production expert in the assembly of our equipment, there may be opportunities for travel, to support our product at customer sites.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing all electromechanical activities at the UK site, ensuring production timelines are met and escalating any issues to the production management team as needed.
* Leading the final test, setup, and qualification of our manufactured instrument, in accordance with internal procedures and protocols – particularly within our Class 7 cleanroom environment.
* Maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised workspace in line with site standards.
* Acting as a champion for continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.
* Supporting the development of new manufacturing requirements and procedures relating to new product introduction.
Your work shall be conducted in accordance with the Cellular Highways Quality Management System.

Qualifications
Requirements
* HNC/HND in engineering or manufacturing field or equivalent qualification/experience
* Multi-disciplinary background with an electrical/electronic bias
* Confident at reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Experience in instrument optics and lasers
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Methodical and precise work approach
* Efficient management of a varied workload
* Excellent team player
* Proactive with the ability to take ownership of tasks
* Strong problem-solving abilities
