Job Summary & Responsibilities
GBM Engineering is seeking a VP to be the Chief of Staff to the Global head of Investment Banking Engineering and the head of the Birmingham Office. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, ability to work at pace and re-prioritize dynamically, as well as working successfully across diverse groups of cross-functional stakeholders across different regions. A candidate should demonstrate comfort with financial analytics, handling sensitive information as well as excellent judgement, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Birmingham
The CoS for the Birmingham Office performs a key role in setting and advancing corporate strategy for the office, and in preserving the firm's distinctive culture. This rarely available opportunity will allow you to gain insight and build expertise across a broad range of disciplines including the office's people agenda, inclusion and diversity, corporate communications, operational strategy, business planning and compliance adherence.
A successful candidate will:
1. Work with multiple groups across the organization to deliver high end management reporting including data and KPI tracking; analyse financial data and trends, as well as respond to regulatory, compliance and legal requirements.
2. Drive communication and cascades within the division and across the office from townhalls to targeted forums, as well as tailoring materials and reporting for use with senior firm, engineering and business leadership.
3. Work closely with senior business leaders and engineering experts to understand and effectively articulate strategy; as well as convey the impact of and progress of key business initiatives and opportunities.
4. Assist with business management including headcount and expense trends including projections.
5. Partner with Human Capital Management for talent management initiatives, including recruiting, training and other annual processes across locations.
6. Specifically, as the local CoS reporting to the head of the Birmingham office, closely managing office-wide operating activities and initiatives in collaboration with all divisions. This includes:
1. Working closely with all leadership across the office to establish and execute on local business planning priorities and strategy.
2. Support internal and external communication and engagement strategy.
3. Drive culture and connectivity and maintain clear leadership messaging to employees of the office through internal communications, events, townhalls etc.
4. Enhance the public profile of the Birmingham office through external communications, including formal emails, social media and website content as well as external events.
5. Own and manage local firmwide leadership meetings / governance.

2. Good quantitative skillset
3. Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts visually (advanced use of MS Excel, PowerPoint essential)
4. Ability to convey multifaceted ideas in clear and concise written language, with accuracy and attention to detail
5. Strong project management skills to drive/coordinate firmwide initiatives involving multiple workstreams and stakeholder groups
6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
7. Ability to learn quickly, evaluate and form independent judgments
8. Demonstrated ability to build strong and expansive networks internally and externally.
