Job Summary:
The Recycling Supervisor with FLT is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily activities within the recycling facility. This role involves overseeing the recycling process, managing a team of workers, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The role also requires the use of a Forklift Truck (FLT) to transport materials as needed, making an FLT certification a necessity.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of recycling operatives, ensuring that daily targets and production goals are met.
· Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the recycling plant, including receiving, sorting, processing, and transporting recyclable materials.
· FLT Operations: Operate a forklift truck safely and efficiently to move and transport materials around the facility, including loading and unloading vehicles.
· Safety Compliance: Ensure all health and safety standards are followed by team members, adhering to legal requirements and internal policies.
· Training: Train new staff on safety procedures, recycling processes, and proper use of machinery, including FLTs.
· Process Improvement: Monitor and improve recycling processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste or downtime.
· Inventory Management: Manage stock levels of recyclable materials, supplies, and ensure proper storage and record-keeping.
· Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that machinery, including forklifts, is maintained and in good working condition. Report and arrange for repairs as needed.
· Quality Control: Monitor the quality of sorted materials to ensure compliance with recycling standards and customer specifications.
· Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports on production, waste levels, safety incidents, and staffing.
· Customer Service: Liaise with customers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely service and collection schedules.
· Environmental Compliance: Ensure recycling activities comply with environmental regulations, permits, and sustainability goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Licenses and Certifications:
o Valid FLT (Forklift Truck) License (Counterbalance or Reach, depending on facility needs).
o Additional certification in health and safety or first aid is a plus.
· Skills:
o Strong leadership and people management skills.
o Knowledge of recycling processes and machinery.
o Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
o Ability to operate Forklift Trucks safely and efficiently.
o Strong organizational and time management skills.
o Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
o Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
