Full-Time, Permanent
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive health and safety technical trainer to join the Health, Safety and Business Continuity Directorate and take ownership of staff health and safety training at the University. This will involve the full remit of adult education, from training needs analysis and course development to delivery and assessment. In addition, they will be responsible for the managing of the H&S action log, working with staff within the Directorate and wider University colleagues to monitor progress.
Working closely with the Head of Health and Safety Operations, you will be an experienced trainer with a proven ability to deliver health and safety training on topics that may include fire safety, COSHH, PUWER, ionising radiation, legionella, asbestos, DSE etc. We deliver Highfield accredited courses using in-house developed materials but there also will be a need to deliver more practical courses such as manual handling or first aid; if you don’t already have a suitable qualification we will provide training. This may include delivering courses off site to both RHUL staff and those of other Higher Education (HE) providers in support of our social purpose mission.
Ideally you will have a minimum of a level 3 qualification in training, or equivalent experience, and if you don’t already have a level 5 training qualification, you’ll be willing to work towards one. Demonstrable experience in a science, laboratory or R&D setting will be an advantage, as will experience in writing, developing, and managing eLearning. You will be delivering Highfield accredited qualifications and so experience doing so or managing third party training providers would also be advantageous.
To support the monitoring element of the role, a health and safety qualification is required, as the successful candidate will be asked to complete walkarounds to check actions have been completed, in line with their experience.
In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
Generous annual leave entitlement
Training and Development opportunities
Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
Free parking
