We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Geospatial Capability Development Lead /Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, managing capability development, and ensuring the Royal Engineers (Geographic) trade remains aligned with industry standards and Defence requirements. You will:
Provide business continuity and technical proficiency to support and future-proof the Royal Engineers (Geographic) trade.
Manage and mentor a team of 5 (4 military personnel and 1 civil servant).
Direct the team’s efforts to identify and implement opportunities to grow and enhance geospatial capabilities.
Ensure continual evolution and innovation in Capability Development (Cap Dev) and the Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) enterprise.
Engage with industry partners, including ESRI, to align Defence geospatial aspirations with cutting-edge industry developments.
Represent the geospatial community at national and international conferences and partner meetings.
Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Provide line management, mentorship, and oversight for direct reports, fostering professional growth.
Coordinate and manage technical development within the GEOINT trade, implementing continuous service improvements.
Conduct assurance visits to UK-based military units to evaluate the effectiveness of RE Geo support and identify opportunities for enhancement.
Identify long-term capability gaps and propose innovative solutions to future proof RE Geo.
Liaise with industry to ensure projects are achievable, cost-effective, and aligned with Defence goals.
Provide expert advice to reduce risk, seize opportunities, and ensure project success.
Mentor subordinates on projects to ensure timely and informed delivery.
Attend and contribute to conferences, exercises, and partner meetings to identify and adopt best practices.
