VisionFR is recruiting a Financial Controller on behalf of a fab creative company whose offices are near Covent Garden. This creative agency has a can-do attitude and strives to challenge the norm.
Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:
1. Work closely with the various service teams to ensure all financial elements of the client relationship are managed, tracked, monitored, and communicated.
2. Manage client profitability by overseeing revenue, resources/costs, ensuring client P&Ls are in line with the staffing agreements and agency goals.
3. Partner with senior account leads on existing client contract renewals and new business pitches
4. Monitor, expedite and escalate client setup, media billing, reconciliation and payment activities ensuring alignment with contract terms
5. Work closely with the client teams to stay abreast of changes and modifications to client budgets
6. Reconcile production jobs with producers
7. Manage revenue recognition for WIP management
8. Budgeting, forecasting, monthly close revenue recognition and variance explanations
9. Assisting the provision of information to support internal & external audits
10. Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed
11. Provide proactive analytical support and other ad hoc financial analyses to the business leaders
12. Responsibility for timely and accurate month end ‘Actuals’ reporting (P&L & revenue by client)
13. Responsibility for balance sheet fully reconciled each month; unknown balances proactively investigated and resolved
14. Responsibility for Aged Debtors and Aged Creditors management
15. Reporting cashflow weekly, and suggest improvements to cashflow template / process to improve accuracy and reduce time taken to complete
16. Ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported accurately
17. Prepare and update revenue for weekly revenue meeting with the CEO
18. Regular review of financial plans and ongoing spend to look for cost reduction opportunities
19. Supporting CEO with budget and quarterly forecast, e.g. forecast salaries and overheads
20. Review client contracts with CEO
21. Management of quarterly VAT return
22. Produce time reports
23. Manage talent billing and payment updates for Talent team
24. Manage payroll monthly with HR, upload journal and prep P11d’s and PSA’s
25. Spearheading annual audit
26. Monitor cash flow, accounts, and foreign currency journal
27. Prepare management accounts on a monthly basis, including reports on client and job profitability and staff utilisation
28. Update and implement financial policies and procedures
29. Helping champion and promote a positive agency work ethic and culture.
30. Supporting the agency’s mission statement.
31. Working collaboratively with work colleagues.
32. Complying with all agency policies, procedures and relevant Statutory legislation.
33. Participating in the agency’s performance management process and undertake continuous personal development.
The skills and experience required of the Financial Controller:
34. Previous experience from advertising industry
35. Paprika experience
36. Good technical skills
37. Excellent communication skills
38. Strong team management experience – Have a “can do” attitude and be proactive in seeking solutions and implementing change
