What you’ll be doing
A Senior Health & Safety Advisor within SP Transmission Projects is responsible for advising and directing multiple Project Teams and Senior Management throughout project lifecycles and providing health and safety services to colleagues and contractors at our construction sites to ensure the successful delivery of multiple multi-million pound energy construction projects. It is essential that client interface activities are a primary focus, along with proactive monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on performance, ensuring the integration of departmental and group policies, programs, and processes.
Additionally, the postholder will deliver aspects of the Health & Safety Operating Plan, undertake planned audits and inspections, provide incident investigation support, and participate in health and safety initiatives.
You can expect to be:
1. Actively influencing teams and individuals to encourage and support the implementation of legislative health and safety requirements.
2. Contributing to the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of our H&S Management System.
3. Contributing to and delivering initiatives, projects, and agreed deliverables.
4. Proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders to improve performance.
5. Developing opportunities for best-practice exchanges across the business, including regular facilitation of workshops and meetings.
6. Responsible for the promotion, development, and review of projects that support the delivery of the health and safety policy and strategy.
7. Supporting the governance and assurance of H&S within your areas of responsibility.
8. Liaising with external and internal technical specialists as appropriate.
9. Acting as a subject matter expert for certain H&S topics or hazards.
10. Proactively benchmarking internally and externally to improve SPT H&S performance.
11. Establishing, monitoring, and controlling a safe working environment within your area of responsibility.
What you’ll bring
To be successful, you will have:
1. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Occupational Health and Safety Degree/Qualification.
2. Trained in Structured Incident Investigation Technique.
3. Registered with IOSH for ‘Initial Professional Development’ (IPD) and the IOSH ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD) scheme.
4. Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within engineering or construction sectors.
5. Proven experience of delivering and performing Health and Safety audits and inspections for a large business area and presenting reports.
6. Proven experience of acting as a Health and Safety subject matter expert from the creation of procedures to coaching best practices.
