Production Planner Location: Either Aldermaston (RG7 4PR), or Burghfield (RG30 3RR), with free onsite parking. Package: Up to £50K Dependent on suitability and level of experience Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. This role is primarily on-site due to the nature of the work. Let us introduce the role Working within Operations Management and Planning, this role would be working within a team responsible for managing incoming demand, creation of long-range capacity plans, and detail scheduling activities within the production area. Working in a highly regulated environment, alongside our multi-functional Operations teams, the role of the Production Planner is to ensure on-time delivery is achieved, whilst ensuring use of critical resources are maximised, and communication within the supply chain is proactive and accurate. These roles are ideally suited to candidates with demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing environment, whilst using industry standard production control techniques and MRP systems. Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home with these roles. It is anticipated that the successful candidates will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE. Who are we looking for? Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we would like you to have some of the following: Experience: o Min 2 years' experience in Production Planning or Supply Planning within a manufacturing or industrial environment Technical Skills: o Proficient in planning software such as Primavera (P6), SAP, or equivalent ERP/MRP systems. o Proficient with MS Office (Excel / Word / Outlook / PowerPoint / Project). Knowledge: o Understanding of Theory of Constraints o Understanding of Lean principles o Understanding of Inventory control processes. o A relevant manufacturing or planning-related professional qualification. Communications: o Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, capable of building good working relationships within the organisation. o Stakeholder engagement o Strong communication skills Personality Profile: o Logical, analytical, organised, and a passion for problem solving and continuous improvement. You will have responsibilities including: Management of Delivery Unit order book. Generation of estimates for received demands. Development and maintenance of Rough-Cut Capacity Plans. Development and maintenance of Operations Plans. Integration of production, maintenance, and capital project work streams. Creation and management of Works Orders within MRP2/ERP system. Creation of production schedules for execution. Development and maintenance of metrics to measure performance. Development of standard work to support business as usual tasks. Effectively communicate with stakeholders, both internal customers and suppliers. Continually improve data, processes, and systems, within Operations Planning. Proactively resolve arising issues and manage schedule risk. Demonstration and application of Theory of Constraints methodology. Calculation and maintenance of planned inventory levels and buffer stock. Demonstration and utilisation of 'Just in Time' principles. Utilising Lean Manufacturing methodology. Monitoring and continually improving system data accuracy. Maturing the culture, processes, and data, required in order to successfully implement a new ERP system (SAP). Reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management. Designing and implementing Kanban stock management in applicable areas. Working collaboratively with other delivery units in order to share best practice and to manage internal supply chains. Attending Visual Management board meetings ensuring all actions are being addressed. Communicating effectively verbally and non-verbally. You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a busy environment and be able to manage your own workload.
