Are you an experienced Town Planner ready to advance your career? We are seeking an Associate Town Planner to join a well-established planning consultancy in Durham. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects across the North East.
Role Overview:
As an Associate Town Planner, you will be responsible for delivering expert planning advice and managing complex projects from start to finish. You'll collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including developers, landowners, local authorities, and private individuals, providing guidance on planning applications, appeals, and strategic planning matters.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing and leading a diverse portfolio of planning projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
2. Preparing and submitting comprehensive planning applications and appeals, including writing detailed planning statements.
3. Conducting site appraisals and providing strategic planning advice to clients.
4. Negotiating effectively with local authorities, statutory consultees, and community stakeholders to achieve favourable outcomes.
5. Mentoring and supporting junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work culture.
6. Keeping abreast of planning policy updates and ensuring all projects comply with relevant regulations.
Requirements:
1. MRTPI qualification with a proven track record in a planning consultancy or a similar role.
2. Strong experience in managing a variety of planning projects, from small-scale developments to larger, complex schemes.
3. Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
4. Ability to mentor and guide junior colleagues, promoting teamwork and professional development.
5. A proactive approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
