Head of Children's Commissioning
Initial 6 month contract

Inside IR35 - £600-£700 per day (via umbrella)

With the pending departure of the current post holder, my client, an East Midlands local authority, is seeking an experienced Head of Children's Commissioning for an initial 6 month period to drive quality of commissioned service and partner engagement.
About your role as Head of Children's Commissioning:
1. You will be responsible for leading and managing all commissioned activity in relation to children in care, children with disabilities, and special educational needs ensuring the highest of standards and ability to deliver within timescale and budget allowances.
2. You will lead a team of experienced commissioners and link in both strategic leaders within Children's Services and the Corporate centre to improve the quality of Cost, Compliance, and Governance within Children's Social Care.
3. Lead commissioning accountability and responsibility for the Regional Adoption Agency.
4. Promote managerial responsibility for cross-organisational team working, and across boundaries with other agencies and partners, to improve services and solve problems in a coherent and integrated way.
5. Provide accountable leadership across the authority and wider partnerships.
Your required experience as Head of Commissioning:
1. Must have demonstrable experience at Head of Service level or equivalent in a commissioning role.
2. Robust knowledge of children's services commissioning processes.
3. Must have worked both in Children's social care but within an agile and changing landscape with a flexible and dynamic approach to leadership.
4. Must be a solid communicator with great relationship building abilities.
5. Good negotiator and ability to operate in a solutions-focused role supporting the championing of Restorative practice across the wider directorate.
6. An understanding of the NHS strategic policy changes and drivers, particularly the role, function, and breadth of responsibility of the ICB.
7. 2 years references.
8. Current DBS or willingness to undertake one.
