Job Summary
As a Tug Mate at the Port of Dover, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of our vessels. You will provide assistance and support to the Master at all times, particularly whilst at sea, along with assisting the Master with the supervision, training, health and safety of the crew. You will maintain a relevant, valid certification of competency and fitness
We provide a towage service across a 24-hour period subject to hours of rest requirements.

You will collaborate closely with the Tug Master and fellow crew members to ensure a culture of teamwork and innovation is maintained while upholding the highest standards of safety
This position is based on a shift pattern of week on week off (days and nights) and will be for 6 months.
Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum of STCW II/3 OOW unlimited
* Previous experience as a Tug Mate or similar position in the maritime industry
* Valid ENG 1 certificate
* Proficient understanding of navigation, vessel handling, and towing operations
* Good Knowledge of the ISM code
* Understanding of Health and Safety as applicable to Merchant Shipping
* General sea going experience as a watch keeping officer
* Experience operating Azimuthing Stern Drive tugs (desirable)
Due to the nature of this role, you must either live within 3 hrs travelling distance from the Port of Dover or be willing to stay locally in the company provided accommodation

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. For the purpose of the vetting you will be required to demonstrate evidence that you have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years.
In addition, successful candidates will be subject to vetting at SC Level undertaken by Kent Police.
