Job Title Occupational Therapist Reporting To: Head of Services Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract to 31 st Dec 2026 Location: IHWC, Unit 18, ACE Business Park B33 0LD Salary: NJC Scale Point 18 FTE £30,146 Pro rata’d £15,073.00 for 18.25 (18 hrs 15 minutes) Working Hours 18 hrs 15 minutes JOB OUTLINE: The Occupational Therapy service will provide a person centred and evidence-based assessment and interventions to support service users with learning disabilities / difficulties and older adults to promote life skills, instil healthy eating habits, improve access to healthcare, build confidence to lead fulfilling, and independent lives. In this role, you would be working closely with individuals within their own communities with meaningful activities / programmes to be undertaken within DRC premises, supported living accommodations, community venues and client homes. MAIN RESPONSBILITIES: Support service users to seek and engage with meaningful activities that improve confidence and offer lifelong skills Address client’s aspects of performance to support engagement in activities that affect health, well-being and life quality Increase client's awareness, understanding and usage of appropriate healthcare. Create activities that help support and instil healthy eating habits including providing advice on diets, exercise, managing stress and anxiety Educate service users on kitchen safety, food prep, managing medicines, self-hygiene, staying safe online, fire and carbon monoxide safety, road awareness etc Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components Assess client’s home and other environments and advice on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities Recommend adaptive equipment and support service users by improving their healthcare and medical awareness Guide and educate family members and caregivers Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term goals Collect data and document processes followed Regularly follow-up service users GENERAL: Be a role model, leading by example in practising the Values of DRC to achieve our Vision and Mission.
