About the role Working as the businesses Authorising Engineer you will be the technical authority for the operation and maintenance of the business assets. Mainly ensuring compliance with the UK legislation, regulations and engineering standards. You will be solely responsible for the safe system of work providing safety from the system for all technical tasks performed within the business. Responsible for carrying out all technical compliance training and auditing, this will involve travel between all UK sites. Acting as the system control engineer you will be responsible for the control and management of safety from the system when any work on plant and/or apparatus within the system is to be performed. What you will do Act as the technical authority for the company, ensuring that all engineering activities comply with the relevant standards and regulations. Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to continually improve engineering processes and procedures. Responsible for the review and implementation of the BayWa r.e. Safety Rules and associated Management Instructions Responsible for the training and development of the technical teams in regard to technical compliance. You will conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety and quality standards. Have the responsibility of system Control Person. This shall require you to be externally authorised by an independent authority. Provide technical support and guidance to project and operational teams, ensuring that proposed plans comply with relevant standards and regulations. Assist with the pricing of project or additional operational technical work. Lead the onboarding and integration of new assets into the system and operations. Support SHEQ team with technical aspects of investigations. Review and approve technical RAMS for works within the business, including those proposed by subcontractors. What you’ll need to succeed To be successful in this role you will be a qualified electrical engineer and have experience and a solid track record of managing safety from the system within operational projects within the UK. You will have a deep understanding of the EAWR, and ESQCR as well as other associated regulations and standards. We will be looking for candidates with a knowledge of key projects and customer/client base including key suppliers and competitors. You will have an electrical background including a relevant Degree (or equivalent) qualification in electrical engineering or demonstrable experience in the electrical and or power generation industry. Recognised safety qualifications such as IOSH/NEBOSH. Naturally well prepared and organised, able to deal with competing priorities, manage a diverse workload and meet targets and deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively influence. and support both internal and external stakeholders.
