An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Social Care Community Occupational and Visual Impairment team. The team delivers services to children and adults who often require specialist assessment and interventions to deliver person centred support plans for people with complex needs. Specialist areas of OT service delivery include complex moving and handling, housing and children’s OT. The Visual Impairment team also provides rehabilitation to those with Visual Impairment.
Together with another OT Practice Manager, and with the support of the OT Team Manager, this is a key leadership role to support and develop a team of skilled Occupational Therapists, Vision Rehab Specialists and support staff to deliver quality services to children and adults in our borough. You will ensure the highest standards in clinical practice are delivered to our residents. You will work closely with health and social care colleagues, housing and the third sector to ensure seamless, joined up approaches. You need to be HCPC registered.
You will be based at The Portal, Ellesmere Port, but the team’s service area extends across the whole Cheshire West and Chester footprint.
You need to have excellent knowledge and clinical skills in the delivery of Occupational Therapy to children and adults. You need good knowledge of the legislation pertaining to the assessment of children and adults including housing legislation and the delivery of housing grants, such as Disabled Facilities Grants. Although management experience is desirable, we would be able to support a candidate with outstanding clinical skills, to develop their management experience in the role.

You will have:
CQSW/CSS/Diploma in SW or degree in Social Work/ Occupational Therapy (Essential)
Up to date registration with HCPC or an appropriate qualification that allows you to register with HCPC
Relevant professional qualification e.g., nursing, social work, occupational therapy
To have completed training in MCA, BIA & DOLs
A minimum of 2 years post qualified experience (paid or voluntary) of working in a social care setting
Substantial knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation in Adults and associated guidance, with particular references to Local Authorities duties and responsibilities
Extensive understanding of the concept of working in partnership with adults, families, carers and partners in health, community and other agencies
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective personal organisation and time management skills
Ability to cope with the demands of the role to have developed strategies for managing pressure
Ability to work flexibly in a work environment with fluctuating work patterns
