Department: Real Estate - Commercial Real Estate
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Glasgow
Description
This position is a transactional 4 – 10 PQE+ role as part of our Scottish Commercial Real Estate offering comprising 65 lawyers working across London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds and Glasgow.
The team forms part of the wider real estate practice of over 150 colleagues nationwide, covering all aspects of transactional and contentious commercial real estate sector requirements including telecoms, retail, office, logistics, industrial, leisure and healthcare.
Our Scottish offering currently focuses on telecoms, asset management, development and investment work, as well as providing cross-departmental and cross-jurisdictional support to the wider firm. Due to renewed panel appointments and increased levels of work, we are looking to grow. There are also opportunities for the right candidate to grow their own book of work with the benefit of an established high calibre client portfolio south of the border.
Key Responsibilities
The role will mainly be geared towards transactional telecoms and commercial asset management work, which are growing at a fast pace. New team members are needed to play an essential, valued role in delivering the time-critical, high quality service expected by our clients and growing our business. Working as part of dedicated client service lines, you would:
* Where appropriate, lead the majority of day to day transactional asset management work and act as primary contact for clients, providing them with solutions-focused legal advice with supervision provided where needed.
* Support the wider team on high volume, high quality and large-scale projects, working closely with senior colleagues on key tasks and generally supporting the wider transactions.
* Work closely to client protocols and processes, particularly in terms of ongoing communications and reporting.
* Comply with the required standards for file opening, conflict management, and financial management of files, billing regimes etc. as well as the specific reporting or other management requirements of individual clients.
* Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.
* Make appropriate contributions to non fee-earning activity, for example, supporting our two Scottish real estate trainees on their path to qualification and beyond, knowledge sharing, training, client seminars, business development and/or client care and relationship management.
Given that the role forms part of the firm’s real estate nationwide service line, there are also great opportunities to work with colleagues across the UK and "build your brand" south of the border.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Successful candidates will be enthusiastic and dedicated, have a strong work ethic and be keen to seize the opportunity to further progress their legal career by developing their technical skills and commercial awareness in a friendly and collaborative environment. In particular we are looking for a candidate with the following:
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Solicitor (ideally 4 - 10 PQE+) with experience in Scottish commercial real estate work.
* Enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who is committed to respecting and supporting others within the team to achieve common goals.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks within timescales as the candidate will be expected to help with running high-volume projects and keep on top of a varied caseload with support from team members.
* Confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships internally and with clients, as well as being able to undertake client marketing and influence at all levels.
* A demonstrable ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to legal issues.
* Strong organisation skills to ensure a pragmatic and methodical approach to handling a variety of commercial property matters simultaneously, through internal and clients' case management systems.
* Excellent attention to detail with an ability to produce work to a high standard.
Desired Criteria
* Experience in telecoms and/or asset management experience would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
* Demonstrable experience of supervising or managing junior colleagues would be preferred.
* Experience with Visual Files would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
