Salary: Grade 7 - £58,918 - £70,450

Cadw is seeking to appoint a Senior Inspector of Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens to work within its Historic Environment branch. Cadw is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service working for an accessible and well-protected historic environment.
The Senior Inspector of Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens is our senior policy lead for the built historic environment and leads our professional team of Buildings Inspectors providing advice on designating and managing change to listed buildings and historic parks and gardens and overseeing capital grant schemes.
The post-holder will form part of Cadw’s senior leadership team and will have opportunities to contribute to historic environment policy, develop guidance and work with partner organisations throughout Wales to promote our conservation principles and best practice.

Cadw main offices are in South-East Wales at Cathays Park, Cardiff and Merthyr; North Wales office at Llandudno Junction.
Qualifications
To join us, you will need to have a minimum degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline such as architectural history, architecture, building conservation, surveying or planning and good general knowledge of historic buildings of all periods and types and the conservation needs associated with them. You will also require substantial practical experience working either within the legal framework for the protection of the historic environment or management and conservation of historic buildings, parks and gardens.
Salary
A starting salary of up to point 3 (£65,577) may be considered for candidates who demonstrate the essential skills, knowledge, and experience to an exceptional level at interview.
The Welsh Government is a bi-lingual organisation and Welsh language skills would be an asset for this role. The successful candidate would be encouraged and supported to learn, develop and use their Welsh language skills in the workplace.
A full driving licence is essential.
