Support Worker (SEND) (6599) Barnardo's DSI service History of Service Barnardo's DSI service has been providing support to children & young people with a disability & their families across the region for several years. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission. Objectives of Service We are looking to appoint a bank of workers to provide support to young people with a disability and/or learning difficulty aged 0-25 years and their families across the East Riding. Workers will be highly motivated and have a passion for engaging, supporting and empowering young people and their families. They should have the skills, confidence and passion to work within one or all of the following areas: Short Break Provision - working on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis within the community or in the home - mainly on weekends/evenings/during the day in school holidays. B'Enabled Outreach Support - working on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with young people who are not currently accessing full time education - weekdays term time only. SEND Youth Groups - working within our youth groups, 1 staff member to 3 young people, numbers capped at 9 young people per session - Saturdays and school holidays. The rate of pay is £12.00 per hour (plus rolled up annual leave) In addition to this mileage is currently paid at 45p per mile & 50p per mile when transporting a young person or colleague. There are a variety of hours available including evenings, weekends, during the day in school holidays and daytime time term only. Therefore, a flexible approach to working is essential. We have sessions available ranging from 6 hours per week up to 30 hours per week. You will require: Excellent writing, recording and IT skills; be organised, methodical and accurate in your daily tasks. Ability to engage with children, young people and families from different backgrounds and with professionals involved in their care. Awareness of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults. Meet medical, physical, emotional and personal needs of the young people. This may include managing behaviour, personal care such as feeding/toileting, showering etc. as detailed in the care plan. You will receive; Full induction to the role and we will provide a comprehensive training package including first aid, safeguarding, care of medicines, personal & intimate care, behaviour intervention training and any other child specific requirements. Quarterly supervision and team trainings. Mileage currently paid at 45p per mile and 50p when transporting a young person or colleague. Rolled up annual leave pay. Overnight work is paid at time and a half (12am-7am) Robust lone and safe working protocol with on call support.
