Widening Participation and Social Mobility are pleased to be recruiting for a new Student Success and Inclusion Coordinator to deliver programmes aimed at reducing differences in student outcomes between Black students and white students at the University. This is an exciting strand of work that will be focused on engaging the Black student population and working closely with the students on projects to improve student experience at Southampton. Tackling these disparities is highly urgent and significant work, with the awarding gap between Black and white students standing at 21.4pp across the whole sector. The University of Southampton are committed to reducing our awarding gap to 10.9pp within the next three years and even further by 2030, in line with our Access and Participation Plan. As this is a developing strand of work for the Student Success team, you will have the opportunity to shape how this is delivered and make a positive impact on the outcomes of our students. You will be working closely with the Student Inclusion Manager and the wider Student Inclusion team, who currently work on a range of projects to support student success and inclusion for Mature, Care Experienced and disadvantaged students. You will be responsible for coordinating our Awarding Gap Project programme, systematically embedding evaluation into all activities to assess for impact. Whilst the awarding gap work will be separate to these existing projects, we aim to promote intersectionality in all aspects of our work, with an understanding that no student experience adheres to a single characteristic. As such, you will be collaborating with a range of stakeholders across the university to advance key areas of work, using an evidence and research informed approach to develop projects to support our students and promote success. As a potential candidate you will be a highly motivated individual with experience of working with students or service users. You will possess knowledge of racial inequality in higher education. You will be able to demonstrate good networking skills, maintaining good partnership working with a range of colleagues. If you would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Chido Chipato, Student Inclusion Manager ( C.P.Chipatosoton.ac.uk ). £30,505 to £34,866 per annum
