Design Engineer
Purpose
The Design Engineer will support new product development in finding innovative ways to create products that meet and exceed the needs & expectations of our clients. As NaughtOne continues to grow globally, the role holder will also play a key role in localising key products in in emerging territories.
Sustainability is an integral pillar at NaughtOne. As a member of the Design & Engineering team, the role holder will play a key role in integrating sustainability into the design. production and decision-making process. This position is instrumental in advancing sustainability throughout our supply chain, contributing significantly to NaughtOne's efforts of decarbonizing our supply network and designing our waste from NaughtOne processes.
Responsibilities / Key Deliverables
1. Working with design partners externally and internally to develop, engineer and project manage new developments through the NPD process to launch.
2. Produce accurate and detailed 3D models using Inventor to generate drawings for prototype, manufacture and rendered images as required
3. Drive development of NPD in overseas manufacturing locations.
4. Manage projects to budget and schedule
5. Collaborate with manufacturers and internal staff to ensure a smooth transition into production, creating jigs & fixtures, SOPs and dealing with any issues or queries as they arise.
6. Provide engineering support for quality team and help drive continuous improvements with production teams.
Core Competencies
7. Degree, HNC or Apprenticeship within a relevant engineering or manufacturing field would be beneficial. Experience of furniture would be advantageous.
8. 3+ years industry experience
9. Detail orientated problem solver and able to use initiative to deliver against targets.
10. Relevant technical experience with good demonstrable understanding of materials and manufacturing processes related to production of furniture, upholstery knowledge preferable.
11. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault and Adobe suite essential. Revit, 3D Studio Max preferable
12. Strong communicator - verbal, written and technical.
Dimension of the role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering & Design and based from the Head Office in Harrogate, the Design Engineer will be part of a team of 6 & will collaborate with colleagues in Product Management, Procurement and Production. We are able to support WFH for up to 2 days / week.
