Our Estates Team ensures that Fire Stations across Nottinghamshire are fully operational, safe, and secure. As part of our dedicated team, you’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, carrying out a variety of essential maintenance and repair tasks. The Role We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Estates Maintenance Operative / Handyperson to help us maintain and enhance our estate. Key Responsibilities: Provide a mobile maintenance service to our Fire Stations across Nottinghamshire, performing general maintenance tasks including plumbing works, carpentry, painting & decorating and general site maintenance. Conduct a rolling programme of planned maintenance including PAT testing and fire door inspections, maintaining accurate and up to date compliance records. Support the administration of the NFRS Maintenance Help Desk, helping to prioritise works, identify and remedy defects and raising work orders as necessary. Provide a porterage, transportation and manual handling service as required to support Estates activities. Help maintain general site security though site checks and assisting with administration of Access Control and CCTV systems. Why NFRS? Experience/Qualification The Estates Operative should have experience as a general handyperson/building maintenance operative and ideally hold a recognised Artisan qualification. They must have a good general understanding of health and safety practices and legislation and be capable of performing manual handling and porterage duties. Basic computer literacy is important, along with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads, work independently, and collaborate effectively with others.
