Job Introduction
We are looking for the right people to join our school. We wish to find a class teacher who is ready to face the challenges of working with pupils with a range of complex needs. We need an excellent teacher with ASC/SLD background or experience, who wants to work as part of a dedicated and supportive school staff.
Location: Doucecroft School, Eight Ash Green, Colchester, CO6 3QL
Hours: Full-Time; 35 hours per week (term time only)

Doucecroft School is a vibrant, dynamic, and highly supportive specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and additional complex needs, aged 3-19 years. The Role
1. Meet the Teachers’ Standards which set the minimum requirements for conduct and practice.
2. Work within the policies and guidance of Doucecroft School, acting as an effective and motivational professional who challenges and supports staff and pupils to achieve their best.
3. Provide top-quality education and care for pupils with autism.
4. Deliver engaging and appropriate learning activities within the school's curriculum.
5. Develop pupils' personal and social skills to help them manage daily life.
6. Create a safe and nurturing environment that challenges our young people.
7. Collaborate with all areas of the school's multidisciplinary team.
8. Manage the classroom daily, including learners, staff, and environment; supervise lunchtime and break times.
9. Ensure compliance with the autism accreditation framework, embedding appropriate support for each learner.
10. Follow policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
Applications Are Welcome From Teachers With The Following
1. Currently holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
2. Having completed an undergraduate degree.
3. GCSEs at grade C/Level 4 or above in English, Maths, and Science.
4. Previous experience or qualification in special education.
5. Knowledge of SEN and assessment across P levels and the National Curriculum.
6. Experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities.
7. Experience managing a team of learning support assistants is advantageous.
8. Possession of a full driving license is essential.
