The Music department seeks to provide an outstanding range of opportunities for every pupil, whatever their level, instrument or ability. Nearly three hundred pupils (over a third of the school) play or sing in at least one ensemble, and nearly 500 music lessons are taught here every week by a team of wonderful music teachers. Most importantly, we seek to make music-making here highly enjoyable and infectiously fun!
As an academic subject, Music is a very popular choice, and the department teaches the AQA GCSE and A Level Music specifications as well as Music as part of the IB Diploma Programme. We hold at least one concert every week, including our annual Spring Choral Concert where we perform a large-scale choral work with orchestra; separate Junior and Senior House Music Competitions which attract in excess of 175 entries each year; a musical every year; five choirs spanning every year group, both auditioned and non-auditioned; evensongs at venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey; a number of instrumental ensembles ranging from Philharmonia to Symphony Orchestra; three annual concerts dedicated to pop and rock music; and a wide array of chamber music.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced, well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join the school on a part time (0.4 FTE) and fixed-term contract. The contract will commence on 1 September 2025 and will terminate on 31 August 2026.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
