Locum Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology - 8 PAs
This post is offered on a part-time (8 PA) basis although less than full-time applications will be considered.
Whilst the role will be based primarily at our Eye Centre at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, we provide services at our other hospital sites: Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. Most people do work from two sites. The department provides secretarial support and office accommodation in the Eye Centre, and has the support of optometrists, orthoptists, specialist nurses, and eye clinic liaison officers.
Main Duties of the Job
The main duties of the post will include:
1. Supporting the provision of General Ophthalmology for the department.
2. Delivery of outpatient clinics, lasers, and day case surgery.
3. Urgent and emergency care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working.
4. 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity will be offered to the successful candidate for which appropriate objectives will be agreed in accordance with the Trust Framework and national Terms and Conditions of Service.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
GMC Registration
* Please state full GMC number.
* Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
Experience
* Completed at least four years full-time hospital service junior or higher grade since first obtaining full or limited registration, including a minimum of 2 years experience in Ophthalmology.
* Wide experience in management of Ophthalmology patients in outpatients, lasers, and theatre.
* Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree from a recognised medical school.
* FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent.
* Academic prizes.
* Audit or case presentations.
* Teaching qualification / awards.
Management Skills
* Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
* Good time management.
* Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services.
* Possess good organisational and personal management skills.
* Evidence of personal contributions to service development.
* Awareness of the current UK Healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy.
