Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are seeking to recruit a Commercial Services Officer to join our Waste, Recycling and Fleet Services Team based at the Stowmarket Operational Depot.
We desire a candidate experienced in the commercial sector, preferably with knowledge of the waste industry, to contribute to our team. The ideal applicant will share our values, commitment, and motivation to serve our residents, clients, and communities.
This is a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent position. The salary range for successful candidates is £36,124 - £42,708 per annum.
About The Commercial Services Officer Role
1. Responsible for the growth, delivery, and implementation of a commercial waste service within Mid Suffolk and Babergh districts, including trade services, garden waste collection, and other income-generating services.
2. Build on the established commercial waste service to maintain momentum, promote new services, and explore avenues for business growth.
3. Promote marketing and commercial initiatives to expand services, identify additional income streams, and enhance customer service.
4. Collaborate with contractors to maintain service levels and work with financial teams to ensure cost-effective pricing, accurate billing, fee collection, and debt recovery if necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
* Educated to NVQ level 4/degree level or equivalent experience.
* Experience in a commercial environment, with knowledge of offered services and a focus on value for money.
* Strong business acumen, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
* Good analytical and mathematical skills for setting prices and standards.
* Ability to liaise effectively at all organizational levels and with external customers.
* Experience in organizing promotional activities for events and exhibitions is advantageous.
