Statistical Scientist / Senior Statistical Scientist - Biomarkers
The Position
Shape the Future of Healthcare with Data-Driven Innovation
At Roche, our Data Scientists play a key role in transforming data into life-changing healthcare solutions. This role is in the traditional and digital biomarkers group within the neuroscience portfolio. You get to work both as a statistician on clinical trials and use biomarkers to inform the development strategy. As a trial statistician, you work on studies from early to late phase, lead the statistical strategy, analysis, and data interpretation and work embedded into a cross-functional team. As a biomarker statistician, you use genomics, fluid- and digital biomarkers, clinical imaging data or related assays to generate insights and make decisions to support the molecule strategy. You do this in close collaboration with the biomarker experts who generate and pre-process the data. In all of this, you have the support and mentoring of our global Data Sciences community.
The Opportunity
* Lead the statistical strategy and analysis for clinical trials, primarily in neuroscience, influencing critical decisions and shaping the clinical development.
* Research and implement advanced statistical methods to assess traditional and digital biomarkers both for pre-planned decisions on a study and for exploratory data analysis. The key features of the data will typically have been produced by biomarker experts already and you then perform the statistical analysis.
* Drive innovation and process optimization by leveraging cutting-edge statistical methods, data insights, and automation.
* Partner with cross-functional teams across research, early & late development, market access, and regulatory affairs to accelerate drug development.
* Engage with global health authorities, shaping regulatory strategies and statistical best practices.
* Mentor and coach colleagues, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Who You Are
* Expert in statistics & data science - MSc or PhD in Statistics or related field with strong statistical expertise.
* Familiarity with biomarker data - you have used at least some traditional or digital biomarkers for exploratory analyses, modelling, or decision-making and understand the biological background. You will broaden your knowledge of the underlying biology and analysis methods over time.
* Excellent communicator - you communicate well with people from different backgrounds and with different personalities. Be it in person, in a virtual meeting, or in writing, you can adapt your message to the audience and explain statistical insights. Fluency in English is required.
* Collaborative mindset - you enjoy working with people, sharing your knowledge, learning from others, and reaching solutions to problems together.
* Drive to innovate - you are curious with a passion for applying novel statistical approaches and data-driven decision-making.
* Strong programming skills - Sound knowledge of R is required. Additional programming languages, such as SAS or Python are a plus.
Preferred:
* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or with the academic use of clinical trial data is a plus. If you have not worked in pharma yet, we will make sure you get a gradual introduction during the first year.
* Experience with AI, machine learning, advanced analytics and similar techniques is a plus.
