We are seeking an enthusiastic Care Co-ordinator/Receptionist.
We are looking for someone who is lively and bubbly with a can-do attitude and is used to working in a high-pressure environment, with care being the forefront of your mind.
Experience as a Care Co-ordinator/Receptionist in the NHS, in General Practice with EMIS experience is desirable, but not essential. *Please see job specification and job description.
Rate of pay: £13/hr, which will increase to £13.85 on completion of a successful probation.
Full-time permanent position: 37.5 hours over 5 days within a full 7-day week.
Practice opening hours are between 7:30 am - 6:30 pm.
We are located in Deptford/New Cross, a 2-minute walk from New Cross Train Station.
Our practice has an expanding population; current list size: 15,800 patients.

We are unique as we offer out-of-area registrations to any patient within England; wherever you are in England, a patient can register with us.

Main Duties of the Job
You'll be working alongside a friendly team of:
1 Reception Manager
10 GPs
2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners
5 Nurses
1 Paramedic
1 Health Care Assistant
1 Trainee GP
The main duties will involve receptionist work with some administration such as DOCMAN and QOF.
Not only will you deal with admin and patients, but you will also have targeted areas to help achieve significant results, such as QOF.

Job Responsibilities
Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Be flexible at all times to assist colleagues and business needs.
Administration
* To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
* To work in accordance with written protocols.
* Opening and distributing post accordingly.
* Changing back-up tape when colleagues are on annual leave/sickness absence.
* Pulling/filing notes and updating as necessary.
* Scanning/filing patient documents into Docman and distributing amongst clinicians as per practice protocol.
* Photocopying as requested.
Reception
* Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.
* Cover colleagues' annual leave/sickness absence when required.
* Receiving patients and consulting with members of the practice team.
* Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.
Appointments
* Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person following a strict triage system.
* Deal with visits/requests according to practice protocol.
Computer
* Registrations of new patients, computer data entry, and medical records.
* Process patients' changes of address, computer data, and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
Telephone
* Have working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.
Other Tasks
* Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; loading and emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
* Keeping the reception area, notice-boards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
* Clear rooms after surgeries as and when required.
* Ensure building security by having thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Having target-driven areas to help achieve maximum results, for example, QOF.
* Any other tasks allocated by managers or partners.
Person Specification
Experience
* Must be able to multitask and have experience of working in a high-paced environment.
* Must have a typing speed of 40 WPM.
* Experience using EMIS, DOCMAN10, and working in general practice.
* Experience of dealing with clients on the phone and triage knowledge.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
* Experience of social media/content handling such as TikTok and YouTube.
