Human Resources: To manage and organise staff shift rotas according to competence and patient needs. Identify staff training and development needs through appraisal. Act as a mentor to all staff and lead in the induction of new staff to the area both trained and untrained. Actively promoting an environment conducive to learning. To support and maintain the nursing team, promoting good working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team and other internal and external contacts To attend mandatory updates in fire, CPR, manual handling, blood transfusion, medical devices and risk management. To attend appropriate Trust Senior Nurse Forums meetings and generate new ideas/initiatives. To work with the Senior Nursing Team in reviewing staffing levels/skill mix. To participate in the recruitment and selection process. To show a commitment to clinical supervision and be actively involved in Clinical Governance. Financial Responsiblities: Liaise with Clinical Matron on budgetary matters. Ensure staff are aware of budgetary issues pertinent to their role. General Responsibilities: To deputise for Team leader as required. To comply with the Trusts fire precautions and procedures for evacuation To ensure confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and friends at all times. To promote peoples equality, diversity and rights.
