Interim Contract Manager

Pay Rate: £421.68 per day PAYE
37 hours Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 5-6 months
City: Bristol
The role is hybrid, with majority home-working. Attendance on site in Bristol would only be expected if the work demanded this for a specific reason and by mutual agreement.
We are looking for a contract management professional with experience in implementing this sort of contract to help implement it confidently and develop the necessary internal processes, tools and capability to manage the contract in-life. This role will report directly to the Head of Corporate Landlord and work as part of the Hard FM Procurement project team.
Candidates must have demonstrable experience in the implementation and management of NEC contracts.
Key duties:
1. Provide commercial assurance and strategic direction, coordinating related projects delivered through contracts.
2. Ensure suppliers meet contractual obligations, managing performance and aligning with key priorities to drive ambition.
3. Monitor supplier engagement and contract compliance, ensuring value for money for the council.
4. Report on performance, key risks, and issues in line with the agreed framework, escalating as necessary.
5. Lead contract reviews, including periodic benchmarking and market testing, and manage commercial matters like supplier reviews, contract variations, and negotiations with key stakeholders.
Key requirements:
1. Extensive knowledge and experience of applying contract law within a diverse/complex organisation.
2. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent.
3. Experience of developing and sustaining effective professional working relationships with a wide range of partners with a proven ability to lead and manage people and budgets.
4. Experience of managing a portfolio of contracts from a client perspective with a proven track record in contract negotiations at a senior level. Ideally with experience in the Private and Public sector.
5. Excellent understanding of principles of contract and performance management and ability to apply these practically within a working environment.
6. Excellent analytical skills.
7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret/present complex information to a range of audiences.
