Senior Acute Occupational Therapist
We are looking for a keen OT to join our Acute Therapy Team. The team consists of Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy staff. We provide inpatient therapy to support patients recovering from acute illness or surgery, supporting discharge planning. The successful candidate will be part of an MDT working closely with other colleagues.
The post is rotational with opportunity to work across all acute areas, medicine, surgery/orthopaedics and elderly care.
Supervision and support is provided by the Band 7 Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
* To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
* To provide leadership for junior staff through supervision, competencies and appraisal.
* To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
* To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust Therapy service.
* To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
* To participate in the rotations as assigned by your manager.

Person Specification
Education and qualification Essential
* BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registered as OT
* Evidence of CPD including relevant clinical training and courses
Desirable
* Postgraduate training relevant to stroke
* Member of the British Association of OTs
Knowledge and understanding Essential
* Knowledge of a range of OT models and demonstrate being up to date with current evidence based OT practice.
* Awareness of clinical guidelines and NSF's relevant to acute.
* Awareness of other community and social services.
Desirable
* Different models of service delivery
* Knowledge of outcome measures/audit
Experience Essential
* Postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of relevant core specialities, including medicine, elderly care and neurology.
* Experience working as an OT with adults in NHS.
* Experience of working with unqualified assistant therapy staff.
Desirable
* Previous OT Band 6 experience with adults.
* Acute Band 6 experience.
