We are seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant with the desired personal qualities and skills to join the staff team within the Kirkcudbright Academy Cluster based at Kirkcudbright Academy. You will be required to support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.
The Learning Assistants at Kirkcudbright Academy are vital in supporting the young people at the school and are highly valued members of our whole school staff.
Kirkcudbright Academy is situated within the Stewartry area to the west of Dumfries and has a school roll of approximately 420 pupils. We are an inclusive school which strives to provide the best quality of education for life, with the needs of pupils at the centre of all we do.

This position is for 14.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, and is fixed term until July 2025. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
The successful candidates must be educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g., Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy, and have experience of working with children and/or young people. A willingness to undertake training will be required.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
