Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O'Rourke, two of Europe's most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £4 billion.

This is a role-based at HPC, where the successful candidate would be responsible for carrying out Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments, managing the chemical database and carrying out occupational hygiene walkthroughs and monitoring. The successful candidate will also support the Occupational Hygiene and Health Lead and the expanding Occupational Hygiene and Health Team, to ensure that the health of our people is not adversely affected by their work, through:
Key Role and Responsibility
* Acting as a champion for health and support for Occupational Hygiene and Health delivery sitewide.
* Carry out COSHH awareness training to the workforce.
* Provide a central point of contact for all COSHH assessments and chemical database enquires.
* Carrying out and assisting with occupational hygiene inspections and monitoring.
* Facilitating and coaching to the workforce on occupational hygiene and health expectations.
* Assist the team with chemical products and work to check against the CosH regulation act.
* Identify hazards or deficiencies, rate and rank risk to enable effective evaluation and communication of any required actions
* Conduct inspections and audits of projects, establishments and offices, and ensure these are undertaken in compliance with the compliance monitoring programme.
* Monitor compliance and ensure project teams are implementing the relevant parts of the Bylor safety management systems (SMS) and identify corrective action where required.
* Incorporating the behavioural tools as part of a continuous improvement cycle.
Key Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills:
* Must have relevant experience in Health & Safety within a construction environment
* Good understanding of HS&E legislation
* Chemical product knowledge
* Technical knowledge in Occupational Hygiene and Health risk management including
* Ability to carry out COSHH assessments.
Interpersonal Skills:
* A strong communicator with the ability to work within a team environment
* Respects other team members across all functions and has a one team approach.
* Presents a professional image and promotes the values of the project
* Demonstrates commitment to work to processes

Education & Qualification
* Industry-recognised HSE qualifications
* Relevant experience desired

Additional Information:
All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
